Le “Fardier de Cugnot” au Musée des Arts et Métiers – “Cugnot’s Steam engine” at the Museum of Arts and Crafts

Le fameux “Fardier de Cugnot” se trouve au Musée des Arts et Métiers de Paris. Cet engin, conçu et réalisé entre 1769 et 1771, est le premier véhicule automobile jamais construit dans le monde. Il s’agit plus précisément d’un fardier d’artillerie, mû par une machine à vapeur à deux cylindres.

The famous “Fardier de Cugnot” is located at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris. This machine, designed and built between 1769 and 1771, is the first motor vehicle ever built in the world. It is more precisely an artillery cart, powered by a two-cylinder steam engine.

L’avion de Clément Ader “La Chauve-souris” ou “Avion 3” ou “Eole III” au Musée des Arts et Métiers – Clément Ader’s plane “The Bat” or “Plane 3” or “Eole III” at the Museum of Arts and Crafts

Au Musée des Arts et Métiers de Paris, vous trouverez, attaché au plafond, et surplombant un magnifique escalier, l’avion le plus connu de l’aviateur français Clément Ader, à savoir “La Chauve-souris” ou “Avion 3” ou “Eole III”.

Clément Ader fit ses premiers essais en 1890 sur le “Eole I” et les poursuivit jusqu’au modèle “Eole III”, qu’il réussit à faire décoller en 1897. Ader est l’un des pionniers de l’aviation, bien avant les fameux Orville et Wilbur Wright, dont les vols motorisés ne commencèrent qu’en 1903.

At the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris, you will find, attached to the ceiling, and overlooking a magnificent staircase, the most famous plane of the French aviator Clément Ader, namely “La Chauve-souris” or “Plane 3” or “Eole III”.

Clément Ader made his first tests in 1890 on the “Eole I” and continued them until the “Eole III” model, which he succeeded in getting off the ground in 1897. Ader is one of the pioneers of aviation, well before the famous Orville and Wilbur Wright, whose motorized flights only began in 1903.
